Vestige combines recurring lineages, stone, age, expression, adornment and archaeological context into restrained 2:3 documentary portraits that never resolve whether the subjects are statues or living beings.

Vestige presents a population without a history we can verify. Across volcanic plains, cliffs, caves and excavation cuts, monumental figures retain individual faces, social distinctions and the quiet signs of a culture that never entered our record. Their material is unmistakable: stone with pores, fractures, pigment, sediment and weather. Their presence is less certain. A face may be a portrait of the dead, a being mineralised in place, or a subject that has simply learned to remain still. The archive does not decide.
